26 Oct There is a war… Is there?
For many years this song was my anthem. I took its words everywhere I went. I never even doubted there was a war between the rich and the poor. Between the man and the woman. Between the ones who say there is a war and the ones who say that there isn’t. But life is long. Life is tremendous. And sometimes old truths are buried under new facts, new experience, some wisdom even. Last week I was walking through the city and I heard the song again, and all of a sudden I realized that for the first time in my life I didn’t agree with Leonard Cohen. There is no war between men and women. Between rich and poor. We all struggle, but we struggle the same struggle. Many want to make us believe there is a war. That we are all different and that that is a bad thing. But now I know… Leornard Cohen was right: there is a war. But we are all fighting it on the same side.
